Poetical Books

This is a very special sort of book: neither completely blank, nor completed filled. Seven or nine of the more than 100 pages have been printed the rest of the pages have been left blank.They are a very special gift for a loving couple at their wedding or for any rose lover.

There are alltogether 20 one-offs in three different sizes. portrait, square and landscape format.

Poetical Books 'Roses'

All poems in the books are roses' poems of known writers such as Heine, H”lderlin, Lenau or Storm. Each poem comes in its very special typography. There are seven poems in the portrait format books and nine poems each in the square and landscape format books.

Different sorts of fine papers have been choosen for the poetical books. There are deckle-edge papers, structured papers and even decently coloured ones. All books have been sewn by hand.

Covers have been made exclusively from fabric with roses design, such as classical English linen, Lausitz Linen, Jacquards and stunningly printed fabric.

Maggie Zerafa's Bay Pottery is on Skye, Scotland. She has been working for a couple of years in a Japanese pottery. Apart from beakers, plates and many other fascinating ceramics she's making these fabulous penstands and I had a small number of them specially made to go with my poetical books.
